- The EIR Music that Never Ends :

Dearest and Awesome EIR friends,

When we first set eyes on one another, I know that we will connect and get on well real soon. True enough, we started joking and dancing around to the tunes of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk and Maroon 5 Sugar. Indeed, like what Ed Sheeran said in his song, we have “found love right where we are” – right here in our EIR class as part of our happy EIR family. I will cherish these beautiful moments spent with each one of YOU as we unravel the wonders of EIR together over the past 6 days.

Thank you, my dearest friends, for giving me the opportunity to be your friend, tutor, mentor and coach.  Without all of YOU, I will not be a lecturer and EIR will not be standing strong today. I am grateful to all of you for your active participation in making our EIR so memorable.

As I witness your intense concentration and eager eyes listening to my daily motivation stories, I thank god for the fabulous gift of wonderful students like all of YOU.  Your enthusiasm to learn, perserverance and keenness to work on improving your EIR portfolio assignments, warmed my heart as I thank god also for granting me the wisdom, strengths and passion to add value and touch the lives of so many precious young people like all of YOU.

To me, imparting EIR skills and knowledge through my personal stories and other motivational stories to inspire all of YOU is like adding SALT into your life. Just like the humble white salt gives taste to the food you eat to nourish you physically, I hope that our EIR lessons have nourished you emotionally and psychologically while empowering and guiding you to savour the full meaning of your life.

As you end your EIR journey and continue with the journey of life, let the EIR music to cheer you on as you allow the "Fireworks" inside you to be ignited as "Lighters" in your life as you "Hit the Lights" to develop your best potential to achieve your dreams!.

Be the LIGHT to others by sharing the marvels of EIR by writing an inspirational message to the next batch of EIR students by signing the 1-minute autograph here.

Stay Positive & Marvellous Always!
Your Friend Always,
Ms Farida

- Hanging out with industry professional :

Our students had a great opportunity hanging out with a Research Librarian from Singapore Management University today. The students interviewed the Research Librarian on various issues relating to multiculturalism, educational deprivation, biodiversity, mobile culture and serious emotional disturbance amongst youths. Great witnessing the rich exchange of knowledge among our EIR students and the industry professional. Best of all, this engagement was done in the comfort of our classroom via social media. As the lecturer, I am happy to observe my students' enthusiasm and interest in asking questions and opinions which helped them in adding value to their research work. They have shown responsibility to put in efforts to do a good research project. Keep up the good work everyone!

- DPA Mar 2015 – A Sweet Journey of Learning and Discovery :

Dear DPA 2015 awesome friends,

A warm welcome to all of you! It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our happy EIR family. Thank you for participating in this exciting journey of discovering the wonderful world of the Internet.  I am privileged to be your facilitator in 2015 as we enter into the 8th year of offering EIR DPA programme. I am so excited to be connecting with you even before the official Apr 2015 semester begins!

Internet is increasingly becoming exciting as well as challenging and I look forward to a thrilling journey ahead with all of you. Together we can make your EIR journey a meaningful and empowering one.  Just like the ever-changing and dynamic Internet world, EIR has also evolved to suit the changing needs of our students. This year 2015, we continue to harness the power of social media through collaborations with industry partners.

I am excited to witness the rich exchange of knowledge between all of you and several industry partners as you virtually interview them on Google+Hangout  to gather your research findings. If you already have social media presence, we invite you to promote awareness of your research topic via Facebook and engage in active live sharing of peer feedback and comments via Twitter during the final presentations. Besides engaging discussions in class, we will also learn outside our  classroom via an exciting site visit and educational trip to iExperience@Esplanade.

With the beginning of our EIR journey together, let us open up our hearts and minds to enjoy learning and experience growth and development in our lives.  Allow me to be your teacher, coach, mentor and friend as I work to do my best to develop the best potential in each one of you. Let the lessons learnt fill up your hearts and minds like SUGAR which will sweeten your journey of learning and discovery, especially when it turns up a bit bitter along the way.

Check out the inspirational quotations from your senior EIR students who have experienced the joy of learning together with our warm EIR family during the October 2014 semester.  Enjoy your exciting EIR journey of awesome research endeavours!

- EIR Rocks and Empowers :

Dear awesome EIR students,

Our EIR journey ends this week with a 12-year legacy of quality teaching and learning experiences using social media technologies. As always, all of YOU our dearest students, have once again made our EIR journey an enjoyable and meaningful one. Thank you for your warm friendship and trusting us to be your teacher, coach, mentor and friend throughout our EIR journey together, even though we come from different Schools. Thank you for opening up your minds to enjoy learning and experience growth as you interact and exchange views with the industry partners and EIR Alumni over Google+Hangout and during the site visit to iExperience, despite other commitments in your life.

Though our EIR journey has ended, our learning has just begun. We trust that we have empowered all of you with relevant and useful life skills that will see you through life.  We invite you to be leaders in your own life by applying what you had learnt in EIR to benefit others around you. As Bill Gates, Philanthropist and Inventor said, “As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.”

Our EIR journey has been like the metaphor of driving a car on a highway, with the road ahead so far and wide. We trust that the Internet research knowledge and life skills that you had learnt in EIR has equipped and empowered you to drive your car safely and effectively as you navigate through your journey of life.

We are happy to be able to virtually accompany you on your journey through the Marvellous Monday with Frida MOOC, accessible via http://tinyurl.com/pcoamds.  Let this MOOC be your BFF to accompany you through your journey to achieve success in your life.

Spread the good news of EIR by writing an inspirational message to the next batch of EIR students by signing the 1-minute autograph here. Stay Happy and Marvellous Always.

- Growing the Seeds of Life :

To my dearest and simply awesome EIR students,

2014 marks the 11th year that EIR was launched as a cross-disciplinary subject. EIR continues its legacy of successfully delivering quality teaching and learning experiences using social media technologies and flipped classroom activities. This will not be possible and I will not be who I am today without the amazing support of all of YOU, my dearest EIR students and alumni, who have invested quality time and effort on our fantastic EIR journey together.  As you end your EIR journey this week and begin your new journey in your respective courses of study, let’s cherish the good times we had shared by applying what we had learnt in EIR into our lives. Its never easy to bid farewell especially when we are just about to get to know one another better.

Thank you for your warm friendship and trusting me to be your teacher, coach, mentor and friend throughout our EIR journey together, even though we come from different Schools. Thank you for opening up your minds to enjoy learning and experience growth as you interact and exchange views with the industry partners and EIR Alumni over Google+Hangout and during the site visit to iExperience, despite other commitments in your life. I will miss all of YOU especially your smiles and laughter as you work on your video and research project together as a team.

As I witness your weekly perseverance and diligence to complete the Portfolio assignments, I thank God for the gifts of wonderfully good students like all of YOU and opportunity to touch the hearts and minds of so many precious young lives.
To me imparting EIR skills and knowledge through my personal stories and experiences to inspire all of YOU is like growing SEEDs of life. The EIR lessons and weekly coaching and mentoring is like watering and nurturing the seed to grow into a tree with branches, flowers, fruits and leaves. The branches are like your research team members supporting one another. Now the seed has grown into a tree which provides fruits and shade to others just like all of you who are now empowered to sustain your academic and future professional life and guide others to unravel the full meaning of their life.

Spread the good news of EIR by writing an inspirational message to the next batch of EIR students by signing the 1-minute autograph here. Stay Happy and Positive always.

- A Pinch of Salt to Savour the Taste of Life :

To my dearest and always awesome EIR students,

OMG! this Oct13 semester marks the 10th year anniversary of subject Effective Internet Research. Intimately called “EIR” now and previously known as UIR, this subject and all my wonderful EIR students and alumni has always been and will always be in my mind and heart. EIR will never be standing strong today for a decade now, without the awesome support of YOU all, my dearest EIR students. Afterall, what am I without all of YOU. I am nothing and won’t a lecturer for 10 years now, without the support of all of you who have spent quality time together with me on our fabulous EIR journey.

Thank you for giving me this chance to be your friend, tutor, mentor and coach throughout your EIR journey. As I read some of your heart-warming closure reflections and metaphor, tears swelled in my eyes as I thank God for granting me the wisdom, strengths and passion to add value and touch the lives of so many precious young people like all of YOU.

To me, imparting EIR skills and knowledge through my personal stories and other motivational stories to inspire all of YOU is like adding SALT into your life. Just like the humble salt gives taste to the food you eat to nourish you physically, the EIR lessons have added that taste in your life to help nourish you emotionally and psychologically while empowering and guiding you to savour the full meaning of your life.

As you end your EIR journey and continue with the journey of life, remember to allow the "Fireworks" inside you to be ignited as "Lighters" in your life as you "Hit the Lights" to develop your best potential to achieve your dreams!.

- End of EIR RED Maserati Ride :

Dear awesome EIR students,

Our EIR RED Maserati Ride ends this week. Despite such a speedy ride over some bumpy roads and roller-coaster turns, we all have survived this journey. Hey, you all Made it! You all survived EIR despite your hectic workload in your respective Diplomas. Pat yourselves on the back. You are now equipped with the necessary research skills to embark on your new journey in your respective Diplomas. I trust that the research fireworks will continue to be ignited in each one of you. Let this fireworks continue to light up your life as you continue your study in TP and beyond.

Thank you for your warm friendship and participation in completing all EIR activities, despite your other commitments in your personal and academic life. I have had a fantastic and joyful experience interacting and teaching all of you and learning from one another. I will miss all of you especially your jokes and laughters.

Throughout our journey together, we have learnt a lot about Internet and issues related to our youths and society today like narcissism, depression, human trafficking, racial harmony, poverty and smoking, etc. Besides using the Internet for research purposes, you have used social media to communicate your ideas professionally via Facebook to virtually collaborate with new friends from USA and interactively engage the online community, worked closely with your group mates via Wiki and provided interesting feedback on your peers’ research findings presentations via Twitter and Tumblr.

I look forward to all your presentations and trust that you will do an epic-win presentation that will rock the house.
Our friendship does not have to end with the closure of EIR class this week. We will stay connected virtually on our EIR DPA Facebook, Twitter and email. As a final close to our EIR Oct 2012 semester, I invite all of you to spend 1-minute of your time to autograph a meaningful and inspirational comment/remark about EIR in the comments column of this EIR blog. Please also give us your feedback on EIR via OLIVE.

As you end your EIR journey and begin your new journey in your respective Diploma courses, remember to work hard to achieve your dreams. Be inspired by Elvis Presley & Celine Dion’s song “If I Can Dream” and Taylor Swift’s inspirational success story. You can achieve your dreams when you believe in yourself and work towards achieving your dreams.

Till we meet again in other encounters, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Stay Positive & Happy Always!
